Traditions at Christmas

Family traditions are a great way to create memories that will last a lifetime.  From summer vacation spots to grandma’s house to various holidays throughout the year.  We all have them, and they bring us so much joy.

With Christmas right around the corner, we thought we would share some of our favorite Christmas traditions with you.  As kids, we would always go to church on Christmas Eve for the candle-light service.  We visited with friends who were like family.  In addition to all the great food at their party, they gave us a Christmas ornament every year.  On Christmas morning, our parents would take our picture on the steps before letting us come down and open presents.  That old movie camera with its bright light was complete torture.  Now, we laugh about it.

As adults with our own children, we’ve decided to share some of these traditions with them.  We attend a candle-light service at church on Christmas Eve.  We give them a new Christmas ornament for the tree too.  We’ve also added a few new traditions, which we all love.  After going to church, we head to Chick-Fil-A for milkshakes.  Then we make our way across the Lehigh Valley following Bill White’s Christmas Light Tour.  Mr. White retired last month.  Therefore, we wanted to take a moment to thank him for creating years of memories for us.  Fortunately, the newspaper is continuing his tradition.  We encourage all of you to pick a route and see the spectacular light displays.  Click on the link below and start your trip.  You won’t be disappointed.
